Philosophy

My purpose is to create a connection of laughter, team spirit, camaraderie and spontaneity in every audience. Human beings are crying for warmth, personal value, bottom line caring and honesty.

I have a commitment to bring Norman Cousins, M.D. abstracts of love, laughter, creativity, hope, determination and the will to live to my audience.

Using music and humor as my ally, I bring a message of confidence and renewal to human beings thirsting for a moving, memorable meaningful meeting.

Motivation, Inspiration, Humor
The success of Creativity "No Limits" Inc., was built on the premise of "Being Present", affirming the goodness of others and helping them grow.

This message has been carried from carpenters to nurses, from teens, to prisoners, from social workers to asphalt pavers, from farmers to feed companies. The message lasted because it applied to the human condition.

History
From 1976-1987 my friend and mentor Frankie Finch who believed in me, worked with and helped to develop the thesis and purpose of C "N L"Inc. We were creative and God had No Limits (thus the name). I was talented in oratory and speaking. She saw the talent in me and kept visualizing my accomplishments to come. She became a working partner and my accompanist. This kept our speaking engagements flowing with music. The music moved my soul and audiences as well.

Frankie was highly talented as a musician with experience in classical as well as popular music. She loved audiences and helped me understand their reactions. We discovered many ways to serve the magic of making audiences feel special. We traveled, played and presented for thousands across the USA. She believed in me and what we were doing. Her retirement sent me on my way alone but with confidence. Her support was golden, her friendship and belief a touchstone. Frankie is now an octogenarian.

In the midst of our work I became a member of The National Speaker's Association and the collegial support there gave me incredible professional insight. The history of the speaking business evolved from events and gatherings called "Chatauquas" in the 1800s. They were held in New York State and large tents filled with thousands listened to motivational speeches. William Jennings Bryan and other greats would capture the hearts and minds of the men with their speeches. It was only men that attended in those times. Other wonderful speakers gathered in later years.

Earl Nightingale, Dale Carnegie, Clement Stone, Norman Vincent Peale and Og Mandino were a few of them. Cavett Robert pulled a few great speaker friends together in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1974 and The National Speaker's Association was formed. This great organization now numbers over 5000 members.

The Early Years
Audiences in my early years were teens. Huge gymnasiums filled with teens listened to me talk about life, love, affirmation and growing up. It was a powerful training ground. At the same time I was speaking in the women's prison near my home. If you speak to kids and prisoners. you are prepared to speak to anyone on this earth. the saying is true that "you can't kid a kid and you can't con a con". My message was influenced by my own twelve step program and the knowledge that so many crimes involve substance abuse.

I also was invited to work with some priests and nuns at this time. I was given a powerful message from a small book called Born Only Once, The Miracle or Gift of Affirmation. With the words in this book written by Conrad Baars M.D. I became fortified with new understanding of where esteem comes from. Dr. Baars had worked with suicide failures and chemically dependent persons. Dr Baars had been a prisoner in the Buchenwald concentration camp. The pages in this book revealed a message. I had been given this Gift of Affirmation by my mentor, Frankie.

My feelings of worth and belief came as a result of someone who saw and reflected my goodness. I didn't need to win approval, seek it, beg for it or buy it. My friend saw the good in me and affirmed me. I grew in this acceptance and presence. If I could grow then anyone could grow in esteem. A process began to take shape and formed a thesis in my mind.

The Gift Of Affirmation allows confidence to grow, ok feelings to surpass passive aggressive and phoney feelings thereby creating a belief in self. I decided to apply this process to customers, teens, nurses and all those present in my audiences. I was driven by the concept that if I passed this gift on to everyone I met, they in turn would pass it on to others. How simple to say, how difficult to do. Then as well as now it is a task of magnitude. It is a cure for crime, a boon to relationships and a salve to customer service and sales.

It has been my purpose to deliver this message for my lifetime through the spoken and printed word, the musical lyrics and the materials our small company produces. The message is as pertinent now as it was twenty-eight years ago.

The story of Frankie and Janie and the story of those first speaking engagements are revealed at every engagement. In 1994 the music of Mary Beth Carlson was used to back up a video project. This opened the door to Mary Beth and Janie who now working together on the platform when the client wants something very special Audiences are loving it.

In 2000 Janie started "No Limits" Publishing which produced Heart In Hands, a small book about giving and receiving. 2004 brings C"NL" INC. full circle with the knowledge that all good is returned as well as music, love and most of important of all The Gift Of Affirmation.
